Doing biopics or historical films is a huge responsibility, says Bhushan Pradhan

It’s the season of historical films and biopics and like many, actor Bhushan Pradhan is a fan of both genres. However, he says it isn’t easy to prepare for either of them. He shares, “It’s good to see that historical films and biopics are getting their due. But recreating an episode from history or the life of a person is a very difficult task.”

Bhushan, who essayed a historical character in a web series recently, says he knows what all goes into the making.“It is a challenge when you have to play a specific character or a biography of someone whose life is well-known to all. You cannot take the liberty of moulding the character the way you want. The actor needs to understand it in depth; the person’s thoughts and mannerisms etc,” says the actor. Ask him how one can overcome this challenge and he replies, “Voracious reading is the key. It helps give a better understanding of the person and this results in better projection on the screen.”
Having said that, Bhushan feels it’s great to see these films being made. “There are so many stories in history that we aren’t aware of. If these films are making the younger generation aware of our rich history, it’s good,” he says.
